Dec 25 2011 A WARNING of severe Christmas Day winds was issued for the far north of Scotland. Gusts of 80mph to 90mph are likely across the Northern Isles, with a risk they could reach up to 100mph in the north of Shetland, according to the Met Office. Parts of northern Scotland and the north of the Western Isles could see gusts of 70mph to 80mph. The Met Office issued an amber alert for the area until around 9pm.
