Tourist board ‘desperate’ for multilingual guides ahead of cruise visits

Pic: © STV A tourist association is "desperate" for multilingual guides as thousands of European visitors are expected to descend on the Western Isles during summer. More than 20 cruise liners are due to sail into Stornoway over the next three months and many have requested guiding services in a range of languages. The demand exceeds the present number of 27 island guides who can speak another language, resulting in an urgent call for more people with linguistic skills.
