Rural drivers are more likely to pass their driving test

LEARNERS in areas like Inverary and Campbeltown are getting to grips with the road quicker. LEARNER drivers in rural Scotland are ripping up their L-plates quicker than anywhere else in the UK. The Driving Standards Agency have revealed that the area has the best pass rate for rookie motorists. And the town with the fewest failures is Campbeltown in Argyll, where 87 out of 120 trainees succeeded – a pass rate of 72.5 per cent. Jul 19 2012 By Kevan Christie ScotRail train derailed by landslide near Dunfermline A WITNESS said last night that rail passengers were lucky to be alive after their train was derailed when it hit a mudslide. Around 30 passengers and two crew members were on board when the front carriage of a ScotRail train smashed into a mudslip and came off the tracks. The accident happened on a stretch of rail between Rosyth and Dunfermline, near Pitreavie Industrial Estate, at 4.10pm. There were no injuries but Alan Goodsir, owner of Gym 64, near Rosyth, was amazed there were no fatalities.
