Two in court charged with teenager’s murder

Liam Aitchison: Teenager's body found in derelict building. Two men have appeared in court charged with the murder of 16-year-old Liam Aitchison. Jonathan Mackinnon, 21, from Stornoway, and Stefan Miller, 20, from Carloway, are accused of murdering the teenager whose body was discovered on November 22. The pair appeared from custody at Inverness Sheriff Court on Monday. They made no plea and were both remanded in custody following the private hearing. The men were detained by police on Friday and charged over the weekend. A murder inquiry was launched after Liam's body was discovered in a derelict property in the Steinish area of Lewis on November 22, a week after he was reported missing. His death is believed to be the first murder on the Isle of Lewis for more than 40 years.
