Western Isles gears up for first weekend of Mod

Western Isles gears up for first weekend of Mod The first weekend of the 2011 Western Isles Royal National Mod, which begins in a mere week’s time, is set to get the prestigious event off to a flying start! As well as instrumental competitions which take place in both Stornoway and Benbecula on Saturday the 15 th of October, shinty and football matches will also take place on the same day.  Camanachd Leòdhais will head to Benbecula to face Camanachd Uibhist meanwhile the Uist and Barra select football team will make the journey north to Back where they will battle it out against the Lewis and Harris select.  The shinty throw up will commence at 11am whilst the football kicks off at 11.30am.
