Cowards attack disabled Inverness man’s home

Alasdair Morrison at one of the windows smashed by vandals in three attacks. A DISABLED man’s Inverness home has been targeted by “cowardly” vandals three times in one week. And the last attack, which took place on Sunday, involved a solid plant pot filled with earth being launched through his street-facing window and landing in Mr Morrison’s living room. Mr Morrison, who suffers from diabetes, a heart condition and has problems with his back after an accident involving a tractor when he was just 16 which left him unable to walk for a year, told the Highland News that he had not been able to sleep since the first attack. The torch travelled by land, boat and plane as it visited the Orkney islands and then went on to Shetland The relay will cover just under 30 ground miles today  but will involve three flights. The flame arrived at Kirkwall Airport this morning, and left for Shetland shortly before 12pm. Later this afternoon it will fly to Stornoway, on the Isle of Lewis, where the celebrations will continue. Inga Kemp, 22, from Orkney, was the first torchbearer today. Harris Tweed settles branding dispute with major clothing firm

Harris Tweed: Employs around 250 local craftsmen and women. Pic: © STV A branding dispute between Harris tweed producers and a major clothing firm has been settled. Lawyers were called in when the Scots tweed makers discovered the "Harris Tweed Blazer" being sold by ITX Fashion, the internet trading arm of retailer Zara. The clothing, being advertised online, was not made from Harris Tweed, which meant the fashion firm were breaching trademarks, and law enacted under the Harris Tweed Act 1993. A Harris Tweed Authority spokeswoman said that "proceedings have been concluded amicably" after legal discussions between both parties.
