Based at Glasgow and the Clyde Valley Strategic Development Planning Authority, 125 West Regent Street, Glasgow, G2 2SA.

The Strategic Development Plan sets out the development strategy for the Glasgow and Clyde Valley city-region to 2035, providing the framework for local planning and for joint working with key partners and government agencies. The Authority is the successor to the city-region’s Structure Plan Joint Committee and comprises eight collaborative local authorities shaping long-term strategy and its delivery. The work of the Authority and its predecessor has international status and formed the model for strategic development planning across Scotland.

A motivated and innovative manager is sought who can take forward that success, developing the currency and effectiveness of the development strategy. You will work closely with elected Authority members and senior managers of the constituent eight authorities, whilst managing an executive team of professional staff and an extensive network of joint working mechanisms. Demonstrating effective joint working across a wide range of stakeholders will be key to the post.

It is essential that you have a degree in Town Planning/Urban & Regional Planning; be a Fellow/Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (FRTPI/MRTPI); have a proven record at a Senior Management level within a public sector setting including participation in committee meetings, and be a strategic thinker and communicator with the ability to demonstrate significant and effective experience in the complex field of planning.
