A memorial service for Liam Aitchison, conducted by Fr Roddy Johnston, will be held at the Roman Catholic Church of Our Holy Redeemer, Scotland Street, Stornoway, at one pm next Tuesday, 20th December.
This simple but reverent ‘Service of the Word’ will include items of sung praise, Scripture readings, prayers, and some appropriate remarks about Liam himself, with participation by adherents of other Christian traditions on Lewis; and all who knew Liam during his months on Lewis and are affected by his death are warmly invited.
It is a particularly welcome opportunity for those not in a position to travel to South Uist, once his Funeral Mass can finally be held. We are grateful to Liam’s grieving family for approving this opportunity for his Lewis and Harris friends to meet together, to give thanks for his life, and most of all to worship God together and as a united, appalled community.’
