THE father of a teenager allegedly murdered on the Isle of Lewis paid a tear-filled tribute to his “crazy diamond” yesterday.
Norman Aitchison said his son Liam could have been a professional stuntman, such were his “mad, mad” antics.
He also revealed that Liam, 16 – whose body was found in a derelict former RAF store – had met “the girl of his dreams” before he died.
Liam’s body has yet to be released by police.
But 200 mourners packed Our Holy Redeemer Roman Catholic Church in Stornoway yesterday for an emotional memorial service.
Norman, 43, said he was proud his son had chosen to be a fisherman like him.
He added: “Shine on, you crazy diamond. Light up all the darkness – that flame will never go out.”
Father Roddy Johnston said: “If you can hold the faith that Liam is at peace, then you can find peace.”
At Inverness Sheriff Court yesterday, Stefan Miller, 20, and Jonathan MacKinnon, 21, were committed for trial charged with murdering Liam on November 22.
