The Outer Hebrides Transport Group which is leading the campaign against the removal of RET for commercial vehicles to and from the Western Isles, is to be invited to meet with Comhairle nan Eilean Siar.

It was the Scottish Socialist Party which tirelessly campaigned for RET on the streets of Stornoway and kept the issue high on the agenda. We always said that RET should apply to freight. It was hauliers that brought the difficulties of supplying the islands to our attention and kick started our 6 year campaign.
