According to an article on STV News site, Channel Five have confirmed that a “DEEPLY PERSONAL PRIVATE LETTER” has been sent to the parents of Liam Aitchison.
Matthew Wright again addressed the issues earlier today on his programme by saying “Understandably, I know many of you were upset by comments made in Tuesday’s paper review with regard to the tragic murder of 16-year old Liam Aitchison on Stornoway.
“I would like to say again that I had absolutely no intention of causing any distress to anyone involved in this tragic event or to upset viewers.
“I deeply, deeply regret my thoughtless comments, and very sincerely apologise to Liam’s family and his community.
“I truly apologise from the bottom of my heart if I have made their suffering worse.”
However, many are calling this too little, too late. This should have been his apology in the first instance instead of the half-hearted attempt on Wednesday’s show, which followed by telling those who complained to “Grow Up”
“Perhaps the realisation of the thought of losing his job over his crass remarks has sunk in” said one of our readers. “Insincere, arrogant, vile human being” said another.
Ofcom have confirmed they have received complaints and are still thinking about whether to investigate the comments made.
Matthew Wright simply got it wrong, but has he done enough to make it Wright?
Please post your comments below, we would like to hear your thoughts on this.

A truly digusting excuse for a human being to mock the murder of a 16 year old child that has utterly devastated a local community. He MUST be sacked.

His ignorance astounds me, and everyone sitting on that panel and in the audience. They should all be very ashamed of themselves. If he had made a similar joke about the murder of Stephen Lawrence it would have been a National outrage. His so called apology was almost as bad as his original very very insensitive and offensive remarks. He clearly thinks the people of the Western Isles are so insignificant and off the radar it is suitable to make jokes about their children being murdered.

All too often people use others devastation for their own humour as they likely lack the intelligence or charisma to entertain others in any other way. This is not okay, though if it’s allowed on TV, especially morning TV, then you’d be forgiven for thinking such evil humour is okay.
It’s not, and Wright should be made an example of to show it’s Wrong.
