All salaries are inclusive of Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade with annual incremental progression for permanent posts.

Include Us is an ESF funded initiative designed to support young people (aged 14‑19)  develop enterprise skills, entrepreneurial initiatives and new business start-up opportunities over a period of two years.  The programme will have three Team Leaders who will develop a strategy in the key areas of business engagement, curricular development linked to enterprise, and economic opportunities and transitions to positive and sustained destinations for young people. The Team Leaders will be supported by an Administrative Assistant and five Support Workers. 

Job Description

A Support Worker is required to support the Include Us programme in each of the five Learning Community areas:  Shawbost, Achmore, Stornoway, Harris and Balivanich

Duties include: identifying and auditing the needs of all young people (14-19) in areas of inclusion, achievement, employment and interests; supporting and engaging with young people to identify and overcome barriers to allow participation in community opportunities including creative arts, sport and health, volunteering; planning, organising and delivering activities through engagement with partner agencies including trans-generational activities.

Requirements

You must have: a professional qualification and proven experience as a practitioner in community development, health or education; an understanding of the theoretical and practice applications of work in relation to community development, enterprise, culture and education; a good understanding of Curriculum for Excellence; extensive knowledge of Gaelic culture; the ability to communicate effectively and work in partnership with young people and their families, colleagues and other agencies; a current driving licence and access to a vehicle.

Fixed term contract to 31 March 2014.
