All salaries are inclusive of Islands Allowance. Appointment to the post will be on the first point of grade with annual incremental progression for permanent posts.

Include Us is an ESF funded initiative designed to support young people (aged 14‑19)  develop enterprise skills, entrepreneurial initiatives and new business start-up opportunities over a period of two years.  The programme will have three Team Leaders who will develop a strategy in the key areas of business engagement, curricular development linked to enterprise, and economic opportunities and transitions to positive and sustained destinations for young people. The Team Leaders will be supported by an Administrative Assistant and five Support Workers. 

Job Description

Based in Balivanich the focus of this post is to develop the business focus of the programme and support young people put in place effective business plans and new‑start business implementation strategies.

Duties include: responsibility for the deployment and management of the Include Us programme at both a strategic and Learning Community level; responsibility for working with Education, Training and Enterprise to develop and implement accredited educational programmes; working with partners to deliver school and vocational outcomes for the programme client group; working with other Learning Community Team Leaders to develop an extended framework of intervention and support across the Western Isles; lead community initiatives to promote social and economic inclusion of vulnerable and excluded young people.

Requirements

In addition to being educated to Degree level, you must have: extensive experience in business and enterprise and have worked at a senior level in a professional and managerial role; awareness and experience of working within a strong Gaelic community and cultural context; an awareness of the Scottish education, further education and training provision; involvement with, or contribution to, community enterprises, initiatives and community partnerships. A current driving licence and access to a vehicle is essential.
