Based at Paisley Area Office, Abbey House, Seedhill Road, Paisley.

You will assist in providing Social Work programmes aimed at improving individual and family functioning.

Duties include providing support to vulnerable families with children; providing assistance in planned/unplanned situations to children and families outwith normal office hours and to respond to emergency situations such as escorting children; resettling families who have been rendered homeless and providing support to child protection investigations or families in crisis.

You must have experience of working with people in need, including children and families; have good interpersonal, engagement, assessment and writing skills; have an understanding of accountability and social care values; be willing to learn and develop; be well motivated and energetic and be able to demonstrate that you are a client centred, warm, empathetic person with the ability to engage with both children and adults. 

You must be available to work flexibly as required and be able to work outwith normal office hours, in the evening and/or at weekends. 

You must be able and willing to register with the Scottish Social Services Council or other appropriate regulatory body as required.

Possession of a qualification e.g. HNC/SVQ3/NNEB in child care, health or nursing and possession of a driving licence and use of own transport is desirable.

The post is 25 hours per week to be worked Monday – Sunday. The annual salary for working 25 hours per week is £10,077 – £11,172.


This position is covered by The Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 (“the PVG Act”) and has been designated as carrying out regulated work with a child or protected adult under the terms of the Act. Consequently individuals who are named on the Disqualified from Working with Children/Adults Lists will commit an offence if they apply for this post and may face prosecution.
